This paper describes what expenses it is believed a Scout leader can and cannot deduct for tax purposes under the current U.S. tax laws. These expenses can be deducted under Charitable Contributions on Schedule A, Form 1040.
The information contained here, although specifically oriented to Scout leaders, also applies to work for other nonprofit charitable organizations that are recognized by the U.S. government.
